Catalan native grapes Wine Flight
According to many local growers there might have been over 150 grape varieties in Cataluña before phylloxera” but many of them just stop being planted for been considered of lower qualities or not profitable.
Luckily today many Catalan growers are recovering old varieties, planting new vines with indigenous grapes, playing the local grape card while also bringing back traditional practices, integrating them with their current winemaking techniques.
In this tasting, we’ll taste wines from small producers which has been focalizing in native and traditional grapes like Montonega, Macabeo, Xarel-lo, Parellada, Sumoll, Trepat, Mandó.. It’s a great way to find out more about the singularity and diversity in Catalan wines.
